We have begun updating our site

Lottery Fun Logo

Apologies if you have visited our site and seen a more complete site. A newer and easier to update site is coming quickly.

Originally, our first goal for the site was to use the lottery data as a starting point to re-learn some old web development skills and practice using newer coding languages and techniques. For that reason, we built the first version of the site bootstrap template and worked out how best display the various tables and graphs of the analyzed lottery data. While this was a lot of fun to learn and play with, the bootstrap template had no inherent publishing system. That made the site more unwieldy to manage and the number of standalone pages grew.

Back in my early web development, I created various publishing tools in Perl that allow our early clients to manage large sites easily without needing to know HTML. Having no publishing platform behind this site reminded me why we used to build publishing tools. The decision to upgrade our site to use a WordPress engine to power the second generation of our site was finalized. Using WordPress allowed us to continue to use bootstrap templates and allow for the easy transfer of existing tables and charts.

Eventually, we may decide to go to a custom publishing platform, but for now WordPress let’s us maintain the larger site while focusing on our gal of analyzing the lottery data. I hope you like the new format. While we are using a basic bootstrap template to start, we will update both the styles and the visuals in the next few weeks.
